Do you need a license to serve legal papers?

1)     Hiring a Process Server is an important step in proceeding with a court case.

2)     New York City requires that all persons who serve process within the 5 boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, and Queens) must be licensed through the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs.

3)     A person or business must have a Process Server Organization license if engaged in hiring persons to act as process servers.

4)     A Process Server Individual license is required if you serve personally or by substituted service, five (5) or more processes in any one-year period.
